Raid in a Day (actually 3 days!) – Victorian High Country

Friday, 4 December 2026 to Sunday, 6 December 2026
10:15am - 3:00pm

Victorian high country

In 2018 and 2023 we ran Raids in a Day which proved to be very popular with owners of Citroën A Class vehicles and so another event has been organised for 2026.

WHAT & WHEN: This event 'Raid in a Day – Victorian High Country' will be held over the first weekend in December, from Friday 04 through Sunday 06 and is exclusive to A Class Citroën vehicles (2CVs, Fourgonnettes, Dyanes and Arcadians).

HOW & WHERE: We will motor up to Mansfield on Friday the 04 December and stay here overnight. Next day, Saturday, we will hit the gravel and use the Mansfield-Woods Point Road to stop in for a pub lunch at the historic Commercial Hotel, Woods Point. We will miss out the shocking piece of road between Aberfeldy and Beardmore and use the Mt Selma Road to go up and over both Mt Selma and Mt Useful, before descending to Walhalla and on to Erica. This route has been recently surveyed, and we can guarantee you a spirited, but not difficult, drive (negotiating potholes will be the biggest challenge), replete with pleasant forest roads and great scenery. Saturday night will be in Erica, or neighbouring Rawson, with a meal at the Erica Hotel. Sunday's drive out of the High Country will be via the Mt Baw Baw Road (more gravel and curves) for a lunch stop in Noojee.

ACCOMMODATION: This will be the biggest challenge and will determine just how many people can participate, but we do have some options.

Day 1 Mansfield: We've negotiated a 10% discount at the Alzburg Resort in Mansfield for the night of 04 December. The rooms have flexible layouts including one, two and three bedroomed units so I suggest that some doubling up of cars so that we get maximum numbers and keep the cost down. The discount can be only be applied for online bookings and the code of CITROEN10 needs to be entered at the time you set the date and room occupants. To go to the Alzburg's booking page click here. And following is an illustration of what you will see and what to insert when you are in the Alzburg's booking window:

But, of course, participants are free to stay wherever they like in the Mansfield area.

Day 2 Erica/Rawson: Unfortunately, the Erica Caravan Park is full on Saturday night 05 December, but we have put a reserve on all rooms at the Erica Motel (Ph: 5165 3252) and you will need to phone them and advise them you are part of the Citroen Car Club. Only 6 rooms, but again they all have multiple bed arrangements so double up cars again. Another possibility is the Air B&B, "Erica Escape " just up the road from the motel, they can sleep 11 and when enquired on the 23 September they are available. There are several other Air B&B options close by. The Mountain Rivers Tourist Park in Rawson appeared to have no availability, but we have ascertained that this was because the owners had closed it for a week to take a well-earned rest. However, they, the owners, have now agreed to open it and make all cabins, and the motel rooms, available for the Saturday night just for us 'Raiders'. As everything is blocked out online, you'll need to either 'phone them on 03 5165 3231, or email them on stay@mountainrivers.com.au, and make sure you mention that you are part of the Citroen Car Club. The contact's name is Karen.

PARTICIPATION: If you wish to participate, it is suggested that you first canvas your other 2CV buddies and book shared accommodation post haste, and once you've secured your beds then please email Dave Rogers on drogers11@gmail.com to let him know of your attendance. Further information and trip notes will be issued shortly but securing you accommodation is the most urgent thing to do.

Closing date for acceptance to participate. Note that if you wish to participate you must advise this to Dave Rogers, by e-mail, by not later than Wednesday 18 November. And also note that for logistical reasons participation numbers will be limited, so it is strongly recommended that you register sooner rather than later, or there is every chance that you will miss out.
